Project Description
VISION: Downtown Emalahleni as a quality urban space which enhances the degree to which its economy functions
AIM: To create a desirable urban environment that encourages activity and economic efficiency

Link nodes with aesthetic paths consisting of good frontage with various types of land uses

Main Idea of UDF: Pedestrian Fluidity & Public Life

The framework shows paved pedestrian paths which are line with public furniture and greenery to contribute to the imageability and livability of the area.
The 3 anchor areas are connected by facilities which offer optional leisure activity and formal and informal traders thus allowing the local economy to improve since people are likely to interact with the traders on their way to and from the essential anchors.​
The precinct design shows an urban environment with aesthetic facilities with signage that house informal traders and integrates them with other formal facilities through accessible pedestrian paths thus making the area imageable and easily recognizable.

The desirability to be in the area thus increases and is aided by paved pedestrian path which result in people interacting with informal and formal traders often. The taxi parking facilities houses taxis and makes efficient use of the space in order to create a public space for leisure.
